Vacuum Dies

A local custom meat packaging company was changing their Multivac forming dies on 5 machines, a total of 45 die changes per day. These previous dies weighed about 60-70 lbs each and required 5-7 minutes to change. Sigma redesigned the dies and reduced the die changeover time from 5-7 minutes, to 45 - 90 seconds with minimal film waste (1 – 1.5 impressions.)  Another benefit of the redesigned dies is that they now weigh approximately 7-9 lbs, thereby reducing HR complaints from fatigue and injuries. Capital payback was expected in 6-8 months, but it was actually achieved in just over 3 months.

Also for this same customer, Sigma produced Formax custom meat patty forming die sets in order to meet their customers' size and shape requirements. These forming dies manufactured by Sigma are actually more cost effective and can be produced in less time than the OEM parts.
